Northshore Area, South Louisiana Council

For more than a century, Scouting in the Florida Parishes has been driven by dedicated volunteers passionate about shaping the lives of young people. This legacy began in 1924 with the Old Hickory Area Council in Bogalusa, Louisiana. In 1931, the council realigned its service areas—transferring Slidell units to the Southeast Louisiana Council, while the rest of St. Tammany, Washington, Tangipahoa, and St. Helena Parishes joined the Istrouma Area Council.

Since those early days, volunteers have remained the heart of Scouting—mentoring youth, building character, and strengthening communities. From the first gatherings to today’s programs, their commitment continues to ensure Scouting’s lasting impact.

Today, the Northshore Service Area of the South Louisiana Council proudly carries this tradition forward, serving more than 650 youth. Volunteers support Scouting programs across St. Helena Parish, St. Tammany Parish (excluding Slidell), Tangipahoa Parish, and Washington Parish—helping keep Scouting strong for generations to come.
